THE ACCLAIM
Italian Opera Fellowship Award

The Acclaim Awards Italian Opera Fellowship is a fully funded study trip to Italy for 2-3 months. The objective is to prepare and train the singer so that they will be able to achieve an international opera career. The Fellowship awardee is given the opportunity to follow a highly specialised course, with the purpose of improving their musical, technical, staging, stylistic and interpretive skills as well as Italian language and expansion of cultural knowledge necessary to practice the profession on the international stage.

Acclaim believes the best way to achieve an international opera career is for young artists to work in Italy, trained by Italy’s finest, so they can improve their Italian language, musical, technical, staging, stylistic and interpretive skills as well as the expansion of cultural knowledge. Acclaim believes (like most Italians) that opera was born in Italy and continues to be the home of Opera and few great artists can have a successful international opera career without excellence in Italian opera. Acclaim is proud to work with some of the most significant and elite individuals and organisations in the Italian opera world.

The key components of the Acclaim Awards Italian Opera Fellowship include some or all of the following:

• Individual voice teaching – singing, breathing, technical, stylistic, etc;
• Teaching of Italian language. The Program is designed for the artists to be able to achieve perfect enunciation, pronunciation and diction in Italian for opera performances. It is strongly focused on theoretical and immersive learning;
• Enrolment at a short term or a twelve-month Accademia Program personally tailored to the Fellowship Awardee. (e.g. Accademia Teatro alla Scala; Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Accademia dell’Opera di Bologna)
• Attend professional opera performances in Italy;
• Applications to Italian and other selected international opera competitions;
• Developing artist promotional tapes;
• Introductions to selected international agents;
• Arranging auditions;
• Assistance in establishing and negotiating international contracts.
